Highland Home Carers was founded in 1994 by the current Chairperson, Nick Boyle, and became a Limited Company in April 2001. Stephen Pennington was recruited in 2003 to manage the company and it has grown to become one of the major independent providers of home care and support services in the Highland region.

In July 2004, with the assistance of Baxi Partnership Trust, the ownership of the company was placed into the hands of the employees also referred to as partners.

We elect fellow partners onto the Board of Directors and the Trustees.  The Board of Directors are responsible for setting the policy and strategic direction of the Company and the Trustees holds the ownership of the organisation on behalf of the partners.

We have recently developed a Partner Representative Council (PRC) which comprises of representatives from every group of employees and location within HHC. The PRC is proving invaluable for collecting employees' views, ideas and opinions and acting upon them to provide a better service.  This acts as an alternative strength to our monthly staff-led meetings and has the freedom to make decisions and challenge existing practice.
