Care Commission Report for Highland Home Carers 2010 Highland Home Carers received an inspection from the Care Commission for the last year and we were awarded the following grades: Quality of Care and Support – Very Good (5) Quality of Staffing – Very Good (5) Quality of Management and Leadership – Excellent (6) The Care Commission praised Highland Home Carers for our annual Social Accounts whereby we consult with clients and staff by questionnaire and focus group. The feedback we receive influences changes which improve the quality of care and support we provide. The introduction of the Involvement Officer helped us to get a grading of ‘Excellent’. Jocelyn Mitchell regularly speaks to service users and staff, in order to improve communications by providing consistent feedback to the operations team based in the office. The report also highlighted that the change in the structure of the office and operations team in 2009 has been clearly explained and service users have a named coordinator responsible for their care/support package. There is evidence that service users, their families and carers participate in the development of the individual care/support plans which are reviewed at least once every 6 months. Highland Home Carers pride themselves on investing in the workforce and the Care Commission praised the Training and Development Coordinator for ensuring that staff are trained to a high standard.
